New Mexico Department of Taxation and Revenue
Axiomatic recently completed a business and gap analysis for the New Mexico Department of Taxation (TRD) and Revenue Property Tax Division (PTD). The project consisted of a through analysis of the existing processes, data sources and resources to determine possibilities for modernization. Following the existing processes analysis, a gap analysis was performed to identify data streams and systems that will aid PTD in the administration of property taxes across the “Land of Enchantment”.
New Hampshire Municipal Tax Rate Setting Portal
In New Hampshire, local property tax rates are set by the Department of Revenue Administration (“DRA”) utilizing approximately 1,000,000 data
points supplied through the submission of thousands of forms from over 500 political subdivisions. For years, the DRA relied on an approach that utilized Microsoft Access databases and manual data entry to complete the process.
In 2013, Axiomatic principles were retained to develop an enterprise-level data capture and management system to be used by the DRA and multiple users from each of the political subdivisions. A full leaning review was performed on the existing processes, electronically-filed PDF forms were developed, and a custom ASP.NET web application with a SQL database was built. The web application provides a streamlined process that integrates data collection, review, and validation tasks as well as complex reporting into a simple interface.
Launched in 2014, the system is relied upon to levy $3 billion each year in property tax revenue.
